Autumn’s Rainbow

On a cool autumn day
A rainbow casting its spell
All of its wonder
To earth it fell
What a marvel it is to see
Wonderful color in every tree
Colors of gold and reds
Are on the leaves
Yet some have chosen to remain green
The sky is lightly blue
There are some purple leaves too
The air so crisp
It’s easy to breathe
You are like a child
Playing in the leaves
There is nothing you have to do
But enjoy the rainbow
God has bought to you.

The Testing Ground

“Good news Chase, I’ve come up with a solution to our problem”.
Chase looked up from his desk and thought “it’s about damn time I heard some good news; but he said “ok, Nolan, tell me the good news”
Nolan worked in the marketing department of Mod Drugs Incorporated and has been working hard to help the company rebound from the bad press in the news recently.
Mod Drugs had taken front page news after several groups of people filed lawsuits claiming negligence and harm for illnesses related to drugs from their company.
“I spoke to Senator Napa and he said more than likely, we will be held accountable for the damages cause by the placium, however, if we come up with an offer of good will it would go better for us”.
Nolan took a breath and continued, so, over the weekend I came up with a plan that I think is a win, win situation.
He then headed to Chase’s overhead board and turned it on. Chase interrupted and said “I hope this is not going to take long, I have two meetings, one with the board and one with our attorneys, so I don’t have much time to spend on this.”
Nolan said “no not long” but I wanted you to really see what this looks like for us. I know you will be pleased.
Here’s how it works; first we will open a subsidiary called Med-Help Inc and through this company we will disburse a limited amount of generic drugs at low cost or no cost to the poor and low income.
Chase looked up at this point and asked how can giving away drug and paying a big lawsuit actually help us?
Well, Nolan said, the Senator seems to think the good will gesture can offset what we are charged in damages and will also make us look better in the press.
But just between us, I feel we come out better than everyone, Nolan added.
Chase looked puzzled as Nolan kept talking; we can incorporate Med-Help so as not to be liable for any drugs given away. We can give generic drugs away that have gone through phase one testing and add a disclaimer of possible side affects.
I have checked and it is all legal. What this does is give ownership to the users of any and all damages that may occur from the drugs.
Plus, just think of the huge tax write off we can use for the giver ways, it will more than pay us back for the money we spend on the current lawsuits.
Besides, there is no better way to test than on the people using the drugs and as things come up, we can better improve the drugs for the insured and the ones who can afford to pay.
Chase told Nolan to give him a copy of his plan to pass by the board and the attorneys and he would let him know that day what they would do.
Later that evening Chase called Nolan and said “it’s a go” now make sure the marketing
Campaign is upbeat and indicates how we are helping people stay and or get well.
